Aristocrat Leisure has reported a 13.0% increase in revenue to AU$6.30bn (approximately £3.28bn/€3.77bn/US$4.09bn) for the 2023 financial year. This growth in revenue has been attributed to the company’s ongoing strategic investment and diversification plans. In addition to revenue growth, the gaming and technology business saw an increase in EBITDA and various measures of profitability during this period.

CEO and managing director, Trevor Croker, credits the recent acquisitions made by Aristocrat for the positive impact on the company’s performance. The acquisition of Roxor Gaming in January 2023 led to the development of the Anaxi online arm, while the pending acquisition of NeoGames for $1.20bn is expected to be completed before the end of the first half of calendar 2024.

Croker expressed confidence in the company’s ability to drive further growth in 2024 and beyond by capitalizing on new opportunities. He emphasized the company’s resilience, competitiveness, and diversification demonstrated through its 2023 results and credited the success to strategic investments in growing and diversifying Aristocrat.

In terms of business segments, the Pixel United social games business accounted for the most revenue at $2.65bn, representing 42.1% of total revenue. However, the overall revenue share of Pixel United decreased due to a decline in global mobile markets and the company’s exit from Russia.

Aristocrat’s gaming revenue from contracts with customers in the Americas experienced a strong growth of 14.0%, reaching $1.85bn. The company attributed this growth to increased capital commitments from North American customers and the increased penetration of its gaming cabinets.

Revenue costs increased by 15.2% to $3.55bn, resulting in a pre-tax profit of $1.67bn, reflecting a 35.8% year-on-year increase. The company’s net profit for the year was $1.48bn, down 4.8% from the previous year, largely due to foreign exchange fluctuations.

Looking ahead, Croker stated that the company will continue to focus on portfolio performance and strategic opportunities, including the proposed acquisition of NeoGames in the first half of 2024. Aristocrat aims to leverage these initiatives to navigate challenges and drive future growth.
