Flutter UK & Ireland recently announced a competition in search of a new partner to help launch a female-focused gaming startup. The winning company will have the opportunity to partner with major players in the industry, including Sky Betting and Gaming, Paddy Power, and Betfair.

The competition is part of Flutter’s Alpha Hub program, which aims to establish partnerships between Flutter’s brands and innovative startups. Applications for the competition are currently open and will close on 15th March 2024.

In order to win the competition, startups must present product ideas that cater to the way women typically engage in gambling. Examples provided by Flutter include social and community gaming. However, there is also a wildcard option, allowing startups to submit ideas that may not completely align with the initial brief.

The chosen startup will receive support in launching their product across the UK and Ireland, as well as the opportunity to form a commercial relationship with Flutter. Steve Birch, chief commercial officer at Sky Betting and Gaming, expressed excitement about the competition, stating “We see this as a really exciting gap in the market, and we’re looking forward to finding and partnering with innovative startups through the Alpha Hub program to seize this opportunity.”

Interestingly, the announcement of the startup competition comes hot on the heels of Flutter’s launch on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). The company began trading on 29th January under the ticker symbol FLUT, following through on its plan to list its shares on the NYSE by this date. Flutter made its exit from Euronext Dublin ahead of the listing.

Ed Birkin, senior analyst at H2 Gambling Capital, commented that this move to list on the NYSE was a logical one for Flutter, as it would attract interested investors due to the company’s significant exposure to the US market.

These developments signal an exciting time for Flutter as it expands its presence in the gaming industry and seeks innovative partnerships for future growth.
