Sportingtech has named Tom Ustunel as its new chief executive, with the task of leading the company’s expansion plans in 2024 and beyond. Ustunel, who previously served as betting and gaming director at News UK, will focus on growing the betting and gaming platform provider’s presence in the Latin America market.
Before taking on the role of CEO, Ustunel worked with Sportingtech for several years through his First Gen Consulting business. His experience also includes over two years with GAN, where he held the positions of vice president of gaming operations and chief of gaming operations.
During his time at News UK, Ustunel played a key role in expanding the company’s gaming assets. This included a significant deal with Playtech in 2015, which saw the migration of the Sun Bingo and Fabulous Bingo brands to Playtech’s bingo network, as well as the launch of a casino product.
Ustunel’s experience in the gambling industry extends to previous roles at Rank Interactive and Smart Gaming Group. According to Sportingtech, Ustunel’s appointment follows a series of internal promotions at the company, as part of its broader growth strategy.
Ustunel expressed enthusiasm about his new role, commenting, “Sportingtech has been on an incredible trajectory in recent years. 2023 saw unprecedented success which we are looking to not only replicate, but also build on. I am thrilled to be working with such a talented team of people across the entire business during what promises to be an exciting time as we look to further cement ourselves as the go-to provider for operators.”
