The state of Maryland announced on Friday that online casinos in the state brought in a revenue of $165.6 million in December. This was a 5% increase from the $157.7 million generated in November. The state also saw an increase in contributions from the casinos, going from $69.7 million to $70.2 million.

MGM National Harbor led the way in December, bringing in $70.8 million in revenue. Live! Casino & Hotel followed closely behind with $60.6 million. Caesars Entertainment-owned Horseshoe Casino came in third with $15.2 million in revenue. Rocky Gap Casino had the lowest revenue in December, generating only $4.4 million, which was $3.2 million behind Hollywood Casino, the second-lowest performing operator.

While there was a month-on-month increase in revenue, the year-on-year growth was less impressive. December’s revenue of $165.6 million was only 0.2% higher than the revenue generated in the same month the previous year. The year-on-year increase in contributions to the state was just 0.7%.

Horseshoe Casino and Rocky Gap Casino had particularly poor performances, with their December revenues down 9.6% and 8.2%, respectively, from the same month the previous year. MGM National Harbor saw a 2.1% year-on-year increase, and Live! Casino and Hotel had a 1.5% increase in revenue from December 2022.

Overall, while December’s revenue was higher than November’s, the year-on-year growth for Maryland’s online casinos was not as significant.
