Scientific Games has announced a series of planned milestones to assist Allwyn in operating the UK National Lottery. Allwyn officially took over control of the National Lottery on February 1st, following the start of the fourth license. Scientific Games has been working closely with Allwyn to prepare for the handover and ensure a smooth transition.
The strategic initiatives will focus on growing the National Lottery responsibly and minimizing environmental impact. One of the key initiatives includes the opening of Scientific Games’ new scratchcard logistics facility in the UK, which will serve National Lottery retailers. This facility will feature the SciTrak system for ordering and sorting scratchcards. This is just the first of many planned deliverables in Scientific Games’ partnership with Allwyn.
Other initiatives in the pipeline include the conversion of the National Lottery’s technology to Scientific Games’ ‘Symhony’ enterprise gaming system, covering over 40,000 retail terminals. Scientific Games will also provide a new digital platform and a range of instant win games developed by SG Studios and partner studios worldwide.
Michael Conforti, President of International and Strategic Accounts at Scientific Games, commended Allwyn for its vision for the National Lottery and emphasized the close working partnership between the two organizations. Allwyn’s CEO, Andria Vidler, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the company’s vision to offer more games, attract more players, and raise even more money for National Lottery-funded projects.
In addition to Scientific Games’ plans, the Gambling Commission outlined new initiatives as part of the fourth license. This includes the introduction of an ‘Incentive Mechanism’ where all National Lottery products will make ‘Returns to Good Causes’ at the same level, ensuring that more of every pound spent on the National Lottery will go to good causes. The Commission also stated that Allwyn will only see profits rise if good causes returns go up.
Overall, the partnership between Scientific Games and Allwyn aims to bring sustainable and responsible growth to the UK National Lottery and support its future sustainability.
